Biometric Modalities
Testing and assurance to build confidence—across all types of biometrics, however they are used.
Biometric modalities are individual ways of identifying people from their distinctive human characteristics. From fingerprint to face, from voice to veins of the palm – BixeLab can help manage risk and deliver better identity outcomes.
Face
With face biometrics perhaps the most widely used today – for borders, digital identity scenarios, device security, policing and more – assurance and management of performance is embedded in economic activity across the world.
Fingerprint
Also a widely used modality – both in many consumer devices and in large-scale identity systems at national level – fingerprints present different capture, usability and performance benefits.
Voice
Especially in contact centres, voice is in considerable use in government and financial services for which management of end-user authentication risks is paramount.
Iris
Less commonly used than several other modes, but usually in contexts with more significant consequences – management of outcomes especially at the capture process is critical.
Multi-modal
A system using more than one biometric modality. Increasingly multi-modal biometric systems are considered or implemented to reduce certain types of risk. Ensuring that outcomes get the best out of the modalities used is important to justify additional complexity.
