Iris

Iris biometrics are finding increased use as an alternative to fingerprint biometrics for contactless verification, identification and access control.

Iris systems incorporate specialised devices that range from basic, low cost units through to sophisticated iris cameras and access control units that vary significantly in their ability to capture good quality data.

Iris biometrics are used:

Typically for specialist use cases, and with active user engagement with the biometric capture process.

Sometimes, stored in databases at scale – for large-scale identity purposes.

Often in uncontrolled capture environments, with little or no oversight of the capture process – implying that quality control, if any, is automated.

What Could We Provide?

BixeLab provides a range of services to support iris biometric systems including performance assessment, vulnerability testing, and threat scenario testing. BixeLab is equipped with specialised tools and equipment to ensure a full spectrum of testing for iris capture devices, matching algorithms and related systems.

Our services provide you with assurance that your system is capturing high quality data, is resilient against vulnerabilities, and delivers effective matching outcomes. The wide variety of iris systems can lead to increased vulnerability that can be only fully understood and mitigated through a targeted evaluation.

Services applicable to iris recognition systems:

  • Algorithmic performance, ISO/IEC 19795 ‘Technology’ style

  • System performance including e.g. capture processes, ISO/IEC 19795 ‘Scenario’ style

  • Operational performance assessments

  • Capture processes, whether in-the-field, using dedicated devices in our lab, or end-consumer devices.

  • Presentation Attack Detection systems for protecting against vulnerabilities
